Statoil Deutschland Transport GmbH was founded in October 2009. In May 2010 the company moved to new premises in Emden, Promenade Am Alten Binnenhafen.

In October 2009 Statoil created the new transport company in view of the "Third EU Gas Directives" for regulating the European natural gas market.
As a transport network operator, Statoil Deutschland Transport GmbH supplies its customers with capacities for transporting natural gas.

Statoil Deutschland Transport has been part of the GASPOOL market area co-operation since 1 October 2009.
